Another Player Playing Around

Another Player…?

Last week’s Guitar Tales; its the same…but different…but the same…but…where is the pickguard?

If you read last week’s Guitar Tales, you enjoyed an attention-grabbing Guardian Angel Player in Corvette Yellow. A Guardian Angel Player is identified by its all tonewood body and classic pickguard styling. As we stated: A vintage-vibing, 24 fret monster with supremely-elevated abilities—nothing held back.

We also elusively eluded to the existence of another “Player,” apparently arousing curiosity among those not yet intimately familiar with the intricacies of our Angel guitar family.

So…drum roll please (see, drummers are very important, as well):

Angel Player has come out to play today.

Our supercharged Angel Player also derives its powers from an all tonewood body—with no maple or fancy wood top. But…Angel Player is ultimately defined by its clean, no pickguard lines.

So, Angel Player is that ultimate playing, high performance, 24 fret axe with the sleek look of more progressive, non-pickguard styling.

And speaking of high performance…this one also has a finish to rival its Corvette Yellow cousin from last week. This Angel Player pulls up to the start line finished in Metallic Green Go—the emblematic and energetic Dodge Challenger  color.

We have some other fun, custom specs to review here as well.

This particular Angel Player is affectionately known as a Li’l Angel Player—meaning it has a shorter scale length—24 3/4-inch, rather than the standard 25 1/2-inch. As such, this Angel’s body is slightly more svelte—like our Pro Am but with 24 frets—rather than the marginally larger Angel with a 25 1/2 scale.

You can get both Angel (fancy top) or Angel Player (all tonewood body) with either a Traditional or a Shorty scale length—your choice. Guardians are offered with Traditional, 25 1/2-inch scale length only.

Both are great so which to choose all depends on your particular “Player “ playing preferences.

Black Hardware is a very nice touch to further accentuate the vibrancy of this Li’l Angel Player’s Green Go finish. A custom P and H pickup layout graces its face. PH1 in the neck position sings a duet with an HC3+ at the bridge, presenting gorgeously, gargantuan and hum-free P-90-type tones in combination with an aggressive, sweet and full-bodied humbucker—all of which can be easily and delightfully manipulated for a myriad of super-usable tones.

Sometimes, when you put the pedal to the metal you would also like your guitar to explode visually from the stage. This Angel Player in Metallic Green Go and last week’s Guardian Angel Player in Corvette Yellow certainly have that aspect covered.

But then that old Shakespearean question still remains:

To pick a pickguard or to not pick a pickguard, that is the question:

Whether it is nobler in the mind to play

With or without a pickguard

Only you can decide

William may have been a profound player in his own right.  Feel free to play around.
