Who Now Linda Sao

Okay, not exactly, who now, more accurately: Who is Linda Sao?

To pronounced Sao, it rhymes with how, like: how do I bow now?

I’m sure you get the idea. Let’s continue, shall we?

Say Sao with us nowSao

So, let’s hang out with Linda Sao for a bit, shall we?

See Night is the band, and Linda, a soul-filled singer, songwriter, performer. She writes, plays and sings from the heart. A pretty-organic style of writing and performing, as she describes it, possessing an innate ability to share emotions and personal experiences through her artistry—sharing intimate moments with the audience, very relatable.

Touring both as a solo artist and with her band—depending on the venue and the situation—Linda loves both. The solo performance draws the audience toward an inward connection whereas the full four piece band is a more explosive experience. Both are dynamic, emotive and personal.

She considers herself a bedroom songwriter, “When I began I thought I was merely playing in by bedroom for myself and then it all just unfolded very organically. The next thing I knew I was on stage sharing my deepest emotions with total strangers who, before the end of the show, become intimate and emotional friends. Once I discovered this connection, there was nothing else quite like it for me. I loved it and had to keep going.”

Linda has a super interesting background.

Her parents fell in love in the midst of the Vietnam war. Love thrives everywhere. An American Navy helicopter pilot and a wonderful Vietnamese lady. After the war they came home to the United States and had a beautiful, blessed family. From this beginning, Linda is tied to both her American and Vietnamese linage. It is one of the wonderful things about America. Everyone seems to be related to many other parts of the world and yet be at home in America—all at the same time.

One fun note, her dad’s helicopter was called Sea Knight. The band, a derivative of that name and a nod to her father. How very nice.

Her tour schedule is really cool—just got back from a New York/East Coast Tour and she was all over Europe last year. But this year—maybe even cooler. First, it is a very unique combination book and concert tour of California with the author of, My Vietnam Your Vietnam, Christina Vo. They share a Vietnamese connection and heritage. This tour promises to be something very special. Later in the year Linda is off to Europe again for a tour of France, this time.

And how did she hook up with her Anderson Raven—the guitar Linda affectionately calls her Anderson Baby—her Black Beauty?

Again, Linda was on tour, this time opening for Hannah Wickland. You all know Hannah. Hannah stepped onto the stage, shredding with her Shell Pink, Raven—just totally rocked it. Linda was immediately impressed. They spoke after the show about her Raven. Linda said, Hannah was so lovely to talk with, so accommodating and helpful. Of course she was. Hannah explained and exclaimed about her Anderson Guitarworks experience.

Linda learned that Anderson Guitarworks was based in Ventura County—close to where she grew up. A connection was felt.

A visit to the factory solidified it all. As she explains it, she experienced, “the world’s best playing guitar—a world-class instrument—the magic of Anderson.”

The Raven she chose to build began with an Alder body for its well rounded tonal foundation—not too much of this and not too little of that but just the right amount of everything for an all around presentation.

Chocolate Maple neck with a Rosewood Fingerboard grants traditional and excellent Maple/Rosewood tone, feel and fretboard familiarity while looking down on stage.

Shorty, 24 3/4-inch, scale length aligns all pickups at their proper short-scale positions, fills in the mid frequencies a touch and makes reaching even more palatable.

Twin vintage-level, PH-series pickups abundantly supply robust and super-versatile tonal offerings—from gargantuan, single coil sounds, that can even masquerade as humbuckers when needed, and then switch down to vintage level single coil power at a moments notice. 8 sonic surprises—all with the touch of a super simple 3-Way.

And now it is time to say that you should probably go see Sao—Linda Sao and her Raven, that is.
